Apparition Series
A couple of years before I knew my life’s journey would take me away from Mexico, the images I now call “Apparitions” began. Earlier on in “Procession of the Favored Ones”, 1995 (which depicted the Dec 12 procession to Guadalupe) I had been an outside observer of the innocent, faith of Mexico’s culture. That Guadalupe came into my painting as I was leaving has felt like her merging with me. I am no longer outside, looking in. The heart of Mexico has come with me.
