Sacred Space – Is contemplation and art combined.
In the contemplative tradition, images of the divine are gazed upon. In the stillness, non-verbal guidance (prayer) can emerge.
“Meg helped me to see that the sacred space of creating with the Mother doesn’t begin when I arrive at the table with pen and paper but when I set the intention to enter sacred space. There is a beautiful expansiveness, a continual invitation to drop into the quiet within and join the Mother.” Karen Mack-Waldoboro, ME
During this 1 ½ hour time frame, drawings of Virgen/Mother Mary are colored or enhanced. Through coloring we are intentionally quieting in and focusing in. Here in the creative space, a feeling-sensation or a “knowing” may emerge.
No art skill is needed nor discouraged for Sacred Space; we bring only a commitment to remain quiet.
“While coloring Guadalupe I realized that there were no lines to contain her and also for me, that I could break out of a box of authority.” Mary Sutter-Sedona, AZ
Several of my “Apparitions” drawings will be available to choose from. The drawing is meant only as a beginning place, not a limitation.
Over the years I have heard more people express fear around creating art than joy.
Also, I have heard more people express anger and disillusion with all-things “church” than the peace and enchantment possible from accessing the mystical.
In Sacred Space, the invitation is to go both more personal and more universal; to go beyond our thoughts of what we have known art and church to be. The quiet space is both free of these memories and stories and also holds them all, as if suspended in a non-judgmental, all-accepting lovingkindness.
My journeys in art and spiritual seeking fused together when I realized I could “put” Guadalupe in “my” painting. Years of not feeling entirely authentic as an artist and searching for my spiritual home merged together. It now feels as if I trust my uniqueness…trust my journey to myself.
Exploring creatively from a quiet mind can open the way to the wells of lovingkindness. Bathing in our own loving waters is our direct access to God.
“I had been yearning for some deeper quiet time with Guadalupe; this was just what I needed.” Rev. Monica Whitaker-Sedona, AZ
“We were able to enter into sacred space and almost like there was space to let the experience happen. We didn’t have to make anything up, produce anything. We could create, express what was on the inside.” Linda Cook, Orange, CA
You are invited to a gentle hour or more of All-Merciful Lovingkindness. Come as you are.
